Small team, real problem, short feedback loop
Insurance professionals spend more time finding data than analysing risk. We are fixing the plumbing that causes it. It is not a flashy problem, but it is a real one, and the people who have it will tell you so within thirty seconds of meeting them.
You will work directly with the founder and with the brokers, carriers and MGAs we build for. There is no layer between you and the customer, and there is no backlog of six-month projects whose value nobody can explain.
- Domain that compounds. London Market knowledge is scarce and it does not go out of date.
- Modern stack. Cloud-native, API-first, LLM-assisted where it earns its place — not where it is fashionable.
- London-based, flexible. Registered in the City, with sensible arrangements about where you actually work.
- Early enough to matter. The decisions you make now will still be visible in the product in three years.
What we are hiring for
Senior Data Engineer
London / hybrid · Full time
You will build the ingestion and mapping layer that turns bordereaux, slips, submissions and claims feeds into a clean canonical model. That means real-world messy input — inconsistent spreadsheets, scanned PDFs, email threads — and output that has to be right because someone is pricing risk against it.
What we are looking for
- Strong Python and SQL, and comfort designing data models rather than just moving data.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent).
- A high tolerance for genuinely messy source data, and an instinct for validation.
- Insurance or financial services experience is welcome but not required — we will teach the domain.
